Dinosaurs

I absolutely love Dinosaurs. The idea of portraying dinosaurs as an ordinary middle class American family is brilliant, and the show manages to be genuinely funny for both children and adults. Watching it in 2026, one of the things I appreciate most is the humour. It comes from an era when family entertainment didn’t feel as though everything had to be dumbed down for younger audiences. There are jokes, references and bits of satire clearly written for adults, while still having plenty for children to enjoy. My daughter and I absolutely love watching it together, and what makes it even better is that we often laugh at exactly the same scene for completely different reasons. She enjoys the characters, silliness and dinosaurs, while I pick up on all the adult humour and social commentary going straight over her ****’s funny, clever, nostalgic and surprisingly timeless. More than 30 years after it first aired, Dinosaurs is still fantastic family television and proves that a children’s show can entertain kids without forgetting about the parents watching alongside them.
