This guy knows how to tap into some crazy primal fears because I swear I've had so many dreams/nightmares about themes in the movie from the basement steps to nested hidden rooms within hidden rooms. I love how characters are not quite what they seem as well, because too many movies are so easy to predict the plot within the first few minutes. With Barbarian and Weapons I'm going to check out everything that Cregger does, and I'm not even a horror fan.

Undoubtedly, Barbarian will raise comparisons to last year’s Malignant, a similarly wild-as-hell horror flick that zigs and zags down all manner of crazy roads. And to be sure, there’s a similarly perverse glee to be found here, as Cregger toys with your expectations before jumping you to another element of his insane narrative.

Barbarian is firmly of it’s time — online house rental bookings, smart-phone flashlights and real estate square footage listings — and yet timeless, like an arm ripped off and used as a club. It was predictable and yet was impossible to predict.

There are depressingly few pleasures to be had here, and one of them is at least, for a while, playing detective trying to figure out just what on earth is buried at its centre.

A better than average film due to its direction and episodic nature. The acting is decent enough, although the initial antagonist made all the wrong decisions ... like they do in the se type of movies! Some lazy story telling, but some decent humour included too. Nothing special added to the genre, but I'd probably watch it again.

Corny b movie thrills with all the usual tropes in place. Some interesting twists and turns and some , at times, good pacing. In such an oversaturated genre its hard to make anything feel fresh anymore. This was a very good effort to do that. Cast and sound design were spot on. The plot was very silly! It was more lol than scary. I think if they had shown less of the threat it would've been more spooky.

More of a comedy than a horror film. There were a few moments in the tunnels that had the right mix of claustrophobia and dread, but they were few. The dude is more like a comedy relief character than an actual person.

This movie could be worse. But not much! No real story, cheap production (though made by a huge crew for such a weak film), weak acting... not even funny...
