Halo 46

I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this game, the single player campaign that is. After the two previous titles, Reach and ODST, I didn't have any hope. But the game was amazing, great story, beautiful music. Multiplayer was a complete joke. Gigantic, ill conceived levels. The same boring mechanics, with played hoping about like idiots, over powered weapons. Halo multiplayer has been a complete waste of time for the casual gamer since Halo 3, favoring the preteen with nothing to do but spend hours a day playing the game. Only SWAT mode is any fun. But if you are going to play SWAT mode, then why bother with Halo in the first place as there are much better FPS you can play. Definitely pick this up used for the Single player.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II8

I gave the game an 8 for the multiplayer alone. I still haven't finished the single player, it was boring. And I completely hated the RTS alternate mission. They had no place in a FPS. But the multiplayer... the point system is pure genius. Finally a developer listened and brought back on of the best features of the original title: custom games with bots.I refuse to play with random idiot/racist/homophobic/sexist preteens on XBL anymore, yet it's rare that all my friends can find the time to game together. It's nice to have bots to fill out the teams. And like the original Halo, the level designers took extreme pride in giving us amazing well thought out levels. Usually I love one or two maps and hate the rest. While I do have a couple of favorites, I was surprised to fine myself liking all of the maps. Zombies have been revamped a bit with the addition of an easy mode (which isn't all that easy), but they are still completely unplayable solo. I would love to see a much easier easy mode (sometimes you just want to mindlessly kill zombies for hours stress free), and maybe an ammo station in the easy mode. Also the option to have the revive cola station set to infinate (it disappears after three uses) It's quite frustrating to get your face weapons from the drop box, upgrade them with the pack-a-punch, only to run out of ammo. them with zombies closing in you hit up the drop box, only to get completely screwed over with knife, or grenade launcher. Then the zombies kill you. But overall a great game, one I'll keep and play for years. Maybe I'll even get around to finishing the single player campaign.

Aliens: Colonial Marines2

This game promised so much, and then completely fell on it's face. The graphics are very good, but nothing like was promised by the "demo" videos show prior to release. In game they were par for FPS, and it seem great detail was paid to recreate the atmosphere and tension of the movies. The first levels on the Sulaco weren't too bad story wise, but the game was already showing it's weaknesses. The NPC AI is broken beyond repair, and the Alien AI is nonexistent. Duck Hunt was more challenging. By the end of the Sulaco levels, the story was quickly devolving into idiocy. The story makes no sense what so ever and is a slap in the face to fans of the movies. And my biggest complaint is the lack of immersion. They went to all of the trouble to model the dropship and the APC, yet they are only set dressing. The only time the player gets to ride in these vehicles is in cut scenes, never mind flying/driving them. It is because of this game that I will never buy another title from GearBox for full price, and will share their future games used with all of my friends. Shame on them for stealing from consumers, as this game is a complete ripoff.

Same old stuff, nothing really new. Single player was enjoyable, but short, sometime a little over the top. But again, nothing new. The special ops missions? who cares, very boring. Multiplayer, they really dropped the ball after Call of Duty Black Ops. In Black Op they had a multiplayer option called "combat training" where you and your friends could play private matches with AI controlled bots. And while you can play private matches on MW3 and avoid all the douchbaggery on XBL, there are no AI controlled bots. And for that reason more than any other I'm panning this game.

This is more than a game, it's an interactive guitar teacher. The AI that constantly monitors your playing ability and challenges you works amazingly. Fun games to build and improve basic skills keep things interesting.Built in chord library. This truly works with any guitar, I have had zero problems with my 12 string Rickenbacker. The track list has something for everyone. I do have a few complaints. While everything works great with my 12 string, the tuner does not realize I have 12 strings. it will only tune the lower octave of each string. Secondly, having to check the guitar tune before every activity gets old quick, There should only be a tune check when you first start the game. I'm still exploring all the option, so maybe I missed it, but there should also be an option to loop activities or parts of songs infinitely in practice modes. But beside those point, this is a near perfect game for music lovers who wish to learn guitar, or existing players wishing to improve their playing. I give it a 9.

I'm giving this game a 5 today, but this score may change in the future. 5 is a low score, yes, but let me explain why. First the single player is short, but entertaining. Co-op is fun but... this game is about multiplayer, multiplayer is f'n amazing. And here is where it falls off the rails. Multiplayer is massive and highly detailed with huge maps, many vehicles and teamwork and real tactics rule the day. Yes a TDM mode is included but this is a watered down mode thrown in to attract CoD players. Everything you learned in CoD is wrong and will hurt you in this game. Single player and Co-op will teach you absolutely nothing in the way of skills that will apply in multiplayer. The online ranking system is FUBAR, you have noobs thrown into the meat grinder with uber players. And the number one reason I'm giving this game a low score is that it is completely unfriendly and uncaring to the casual/new player. I can't begin to explain how massive a single multiplayer maps is. And the game developers gave us all a huge "F You" by not including the ability to play private matches. This one simple feature would do wonders for allowing player to improve their game play, to learn the maps, to practice with planes and helicopter without screwing up online games for other players. This is an amazing game. Graphic 100, best I have seen. Sound 100, simply amazing. Detailed well thought out multiplayer, Very fun Single player and Co-op. But with a multiplayer as detailed as this, with such a huge emphasis on teamwork and tactic it is extremely unfriendly to new/casual player that don't have 8 hours a day to devote to playing this game. If you are new to this style of play, you will be frustrated and I suggest you wait for the next MW installment.

After playing through this game I feel the need to write a second review, since I have lowered my original score of this game. This game proves you can't teach an old dog new tricks. This game would have been amazing 10 years ago. Today it's just boring wrapped in better graphics. First let me clear up any misconceptions about game content. There is none. Boasting three discs... this is not because of content, hours and hours of missions. The first two disc are for the single player, the third disc is for multiplayer. "But two disc is still more than most!" you cry. Sorry, the discs contain the graphics, not missions or quests (I played through in a leisurely 10 hours). Yes this is an amazing looking game, you're driving along and see a giant ocean going ship completely stranded in this wasted desert. You can see that people have been using it as a place to live, you can drive up to it, get out and walk around it. Unfortunately you can't go in and explore it. There is nothing to explore outside of the "cities", most places you encounter you can not enter until you have been given the mission by an NPC. Load screens... are you F'n kidding me? Why do we still have these? If you can travel from one end of an open world to the other like in Red Dead Redemption without a frikkin load screen, why do they have them in this game ruining any immersion? Oh yeah, the guys at Id are still using 15 year old game and level design, just with prettier looking graphics. The story is almost non existent, boring, and ends abruptly making no sense. You never even meet or battle the main bad guy... I suspect this might be to leave room for a 'RAGE 2', though there is ZERO chance I would even pick up such a turd used. This game is also extremely buggy. I have fallen through the bottom of a map several times mainly using the garage lift in subway town. Even after installing all three disc to my harddrive, I still have to switch between discs when moving to the new areas (or multiplyer) which also boots me back to the dashboard. WTF?! I'm giving this game a 4, and that is being generous...

I first played though choosing the human side first, and truth be told, beside flying the helicopters, it was very fun. I would have given the game a 7 at that point. My only real complaint was the moronic control system for the helicopters. At the moment I'm two hours into the Navi side of the game, and I'm ready to rip the disc from my xbox and toss it in the garbage disposal. The Navi side is almost unplayable. Too much climbing, overpowered enemies (clubs and arrow vs. machine gun, you spend allot of time dead as a Navi), confusing missions, and if I fall off a ledge and die one more time due to the screwed up third person view. You can't zoom in or out on the map or mini map, so at one point I missed a turn and spent 45 minutes climbing around on those stupid cliffs unable to find the path to my target. The Navi development team spent all their time and budget on flying the lizards (which again suffers from a weird control system, but is cool once you get the hang of it) and ignore the rest of the game play. Like I said, I had scored this game a 7, but now it gets a ZERO! Do. Not. Buy. This. Game

Zombies were a fun idea, but early on went off the rails. I only have one complain, zombies are not for the casual gamer. In this day and age, leaving out the ability to adjust the difficulty is moronic. Making so much content vitally unplayable solo is equally stupid. Zombie maps from World at War were easily playable solo, making the even more fun co-op. Maps were easily explored without hours and hours of game play. Resent maps I've never fully seen, and never mind following the story. After the big budget Romero turd I vowed never to waste another dime on zombie DLC. Look game developers, sometimes you just want some mindless distraction, sometimes you want to learn the levels before ramping up the difficulty, sometimes you want to play with friends that don't have elite skills, and the ability to adjust the difficulty allows for this. To leave this feature out screws gamers, and in the end screws you too...

I wanted to like this game, but I'm only reminded of what I hated about the first one and why I didn't buy the second one. Overall a fail. Multiplayer is simply frustrating. I'm sure the things I hate are what everyone else loves. The sprint effect, the random "bouncing" when taking damage that makes it near impossible to adjust your fire on target. The sounds are horrible, when you hear the enemy they sound like they are right behind you even if they are halfway across the map. I know why they made these features this way, as a way to artificially raise the tension of the game, but do shooters really need this? Versus mode needs more options for games, like the ability to have uneven numbers of players on teams, though I guess that's what they included horde mode for.Overall it's just too simplistic, two dimensional, and lacking compared to shooters like COD. If you loved the first two I'm sure you'll love this one too. I wish I had saved my money.
