I’m a huge fan of short games that are polished and have a ton of love and attention to detail put into them; this is one of those!! The music reacts very dynamically to your gameplay, the visuals are very dense (like there’s a lot going on!) but never get in the way of gameplay. The end result is about as enthralling as you’d expect, while still packing a solid ‘platforming’ challenge for those looking for it. I’m going to keep coming back for all of Nifflas and Triple Topping’s games

This game is incredibly charming and felt like what I’d always wished a Pokémon game would feel like! The voice acting might be my favorite thing about this game. I just wish there was an endless mode at the end of the main story because I wanted to spend more time in its world

This is an absolutely incredible game, and easily my favorite of this year! It's an adventure game and a point-and-click hybrid with surreal elements, but what makes it stand-out is the uniqueness of how it tells its stories and the authenticity of its world and its characters. The ending had me ///// /// sobbing ///// //

I honestly don't get the hate for this game. I loved every second of it. If you feel entitled to a certain type of story, look elsewhere. But don't gatekeep videogames as a whole just bc you wanted a dumbed down hero-worship plot. No spoilers ahead... Trans Character(s): I've seen some comments about this game being transphobic. That is absolutely false. Having trans representation does not equal transphobia. Ellie and Joel: This seems to be the main reason cited for the hate. Alright, people are complex. Way, way more complex than mainstream videogame narratives will have you believe. They aren't just 'good' or 'bad'. Last of Us 2 recognizes this aspect and uses it to tell an overarching story. The game isn't about Ellie or Joel. It's about Ellie and Joel AND the people around them. It introduces a lot of amazing new characters like Dina, Jessie, Abby etc, who all feel like full-fledged, often lovable characters in their own right. Every character's actions feel well-motivated. Women (Ellie and Abby): Another stupid argument I keep seeing being made is that Ellie and Abby are too much like 'men' and not 'feminine enough'. Sure, I myself feel that we need more emotionally complex women in games that aren't just your typical, patriarchy-friendly 'strong woman' tropes. But the Last of Us is set in uhh.... a zombie apocalypse! Are there going to be strong women in such a world? HECK YEAH. The game has 'less masculine' women too! Dina is an absolutely wonderful character and probably my favorite in the whole game. Her strength is in her emotional maturity, which is something Ellie severely lacks. Game mechanics: This is a Naughty Dog game, so you know what you're in for. You either ADORE it or like it. The other reviews have talked about this already. TLDR; Don't go in feeling entitled to a certain kind of story, and you'll be fine. The story is realistic, so are all the characters and their motivations. Flawed characters =/= bad storytelling, quite the opposite.
