When a series manages to blend humor with genuine, personal insights, it often resonates strongly with audiences. It can offer moments of laughter while also delving into deeper emotional truths, creating a well-rounded viewing experience.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

I was so hyped for this adaptation, but sadly I'm sorely disappointed. It's way too slow and boring, everything is watered down, nothing like the movie. It does pick up a bit in the last episode, but not enough to make it worth the time. If I wasn't a big Scott Pilgrim vs The World fan I'd have given up mid way. On the animation front, I really love the design of the characters and general feel, but the blur effect they decided to use to mimic camera focus was straining my eyes a lot to the point where I had to look away at times.

This is unlike anything we've seen from Marvel, very Adult Swim like comedy dealing with some very heavy topics like marriage, divorce, family, midlife crisis, etc.

Master of None: Season 3

Not The Master of None I had hoped for. Instead of uplifting witty comedy that we are used to from Aziz we've gotten a draining politically correct drama. Only things that kept me going were love for characters built in previous seasons and Aziz's directing. Each episode I was hoping this storyline would be over and that real Master of None would start, but that never happened, in a way I feel cheated. This would have made much more sense as a spin-off.

It may seem shallow, but this is a mocumentary at its best. It has more intricate plot than many real crime/detective shows.

First episode wasn't very good, but later on, series really picks up the pace and becomes very interesting. I had that urge for just one episode which doesn't happen to me often. Story seems pretty straight forward but there are some unusual twists which make it memorable. I love how all the characters are so weird and are given enough time to get to know them and eventually love. They are all so flawed. Main character brings most of her charm from Arrested Development which I loved, love those freckles. Last but not the least, the ending, so fitting to Millennial generation!!! Totally unexpected.

This is a work ****. There isn't anything like this on TV at the moment. Characters are so flawed, so irritating yet you can't resist loving them. You can cut tension with a knife, can't wait for more episodes.

Catastrophe: Season 3

Series has a much darker tone but still manages to be very funny (a bit less than previous seasons). I love it, all the ups and downs, but usual cliffhanger not so much. Can't wait for next season. What strikes me as strange and unbelievable is that kids are totally in the background, like props. Any normal parent would know that when you get kids they are the centre of your world and that their well-being is above all else. This makes main characters look very selfish and self-centred which makes me like them a bit less.

Good atmosphere and intriguing story kept me awake whole night just to be disappointed with an ending which felt kind of flat, illogical and rushed. Still, it made me interested enough that I will be back if there is a second season.

This is better than the original in every way. Fantastic animation and effects but what makes it stand out from other similar themed series is a story which is told in a great way. It manages to be serious, but at the same time have enough comic relief moments not to be too heavy. It pays great homage to original but at the same time it doesn't use it's monotonous formula. While in the original you had a monster to be defeated in the last minutes with each episode having it's own standalone story here you have a story arc which spans through seasons and makes you craving for more. This is not to be missed by any fans of Voltron, Grandzort, Transformers, Robotek, etc.

Based only on the pilot I have to say I love it and if you like Sea Lab 2021, Archer, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Frisky Dingo you will enjoy it too. I can't wait for more.
