Minds Beneath Us is a philosophical theater play disguised as a cyberpunk adventure. While the narrative itself is interesting enough and carries the game, the real depth of it lies in its philosophical questions and problems. The cyberpunk world of Taipei is a world of constant contradictions. Every little thing in this world presents a dilemma, in which the player is encouraged to think and take a stance. This philosophical approach is not on the nose, however, it is perfectly woven into the narrative and story of the game. While some dialogues seem too long or too boring, the thought-provoking questions asked, combined with the good writing, make up for it. For me personally, the few places which are visited many times feel more like a theater play than a game and can become a bit dull, but the focus on story, dialogue, and philosophy makes up for it. The music is good too, and the visuals are made with great detail. Great game overall, but be ready to read and think!
