I am a huge fan of KCD2 but the first entry in the series is just yanky. It's frustrating, badly balanced and masochistic. It's not enjoyable wasting 45 minutes of playtime just because you can't save and main quest opposition is much too difficult for what the game has taught you so far. It's not an MMORPG, you shouldn't have to "grind" to not be punished in the main quest.

Going Medieval3

Buggy, unoptimized, and overall a bad experience. It's essentially the gameplay of Rimworld in a 3D medieval setting, but the lack of polish, terrible performance and lack of guidance for the game mechanics makes this a sad experience that unfortunately doesn't live up to other similar games in the genre.

This game is an insult to every fan of the Company of Heroes franchise. It was completely expected, but Sega should be ashamed.

There's a balance between making a game challenging, and simply making it punishing. If you're into Dark Souls, maybe this will be your cup of tea because dying over and over again and losing all progress is your thing -- but the problem is that if the game already takes tens of hours to grind up to the next tier of boat even if you're in "forgiving mode" with save-scumming because you're still constantly bleeding money left and right, it doesn't even pass as a difficult game, just an incredibly grindy one.

Saints Row IV3
Aug 27, 2013
Let me preface this by saying that I was not a fan of the previous Saints Row games, so if you were, this review probably does not apply to you and you will likely have a good time. Buy it. If you haven't played Saints Row, or if you slightly disliked the previous games, read on. I was first introduced to Saints Row in a sort of middle period after having finished GTA4 and waiting anxiously for GTA5 (which I am at the time of writing still doing, but not for long). It's pretty obvious from the get go what the purpose of Saints Row is; it's like GTA, only a lot more fart jokes, explosions, nudeness, unrealistic characters and so on. If playing a game that essentially feels like nothing but a developer sandbox for six hours because you love explosions, Saints Row is fine. It is entertaining in that way. The problem I have with Saints Row is that it has no compelling characters, and no compelling plot. I will say that I have no problem understanding why this is, the plotlines are by nature ridiculous and over-the-top, but for me personally I just can't become engaged in a game that literally does not have a story. For SR4, you might say it has a story. I would say the story is a thin film, present only out of necessity, to tie together the millions of popular culture references (do a barrel roll!) and "crazy" events throughout the game. It's obvious that the point here was to make a game that was as crazy as possible, and that's fine. It's true to its roots, because this is what Saints Row has always been about. However, the bottom line for me is that a game without a story is just as bad as a movie or a book without a story. I wouldn't want to watch a movie with 90 minutes of fart jokes and pop culture references either, where it feels like the plot was constructed on top of cramming all that stuff in to make it sort of fit. So, if you're like me and you need an engaging story and characters that have more complexity than a sack of potatoes to get you through a game, I think this game probably is not for you. This game is for the choir, those that already know and love the Saints Row series. It's not for me.

The Walking Dead: 400 Days4

Granted, this DLC is only the price of about a beer or two, but I honestly think I would have enjoyed a beer more. Maybe it's just the fact that the original game is so well made and gave me so much for the money I spent, but I can't help but feel that this DLC is way too thin. I'm still OK with having bought the game because I feel like I have supported a studio that I really like, but that shouldn't be a reason to buy a game.

I tried really hard to like this game, being a huge fan of the Tropico series, but this game is just awful. The gameplay will bore you to death, the graphics are all right but the game somehow manages to combine lack of content with making the maps feeling cramped. Comparing it to Xcom like some attempted buzz for the game has done is just a joke. Stay far away from this game, or try the demo if you want to experience what I just described first hand.

Diablo III0

I've never been so disappointed with a sequel in my life, and I'd like to think that it's not only because Diablo 2 was a great game, but also because this one is really bad. Blizzard is slipping in all departements, the story is just lazy, the characters are mostly flat and boring and they actually built this game on the premise that you'll play it over and over again anyway. Here's a tip: the reason people played Diablo 2 over and over again for years and years wasn't because that was the only way to get good gear, or to change the difficulty (absolutely horrible that you can't start on harder difficulty in this goddamn game): they did it because the game was great fun to play in the first place. My respect for Blizzard is severely damaged, and I won't be buying a game from them again anytime soon.
