I wanted something nice and chilled to play while I was ill, and this was perfect. Uplifting too. I felt like I was on holiday on the game's beautiful island. Peril is minimal. Characters are nice - meanness is at a minimum. Music is lovely. Movement is fun, it develops as the game goes along. If I had to criticise something I'd say more camera control would be nice, and a few times I found a hidden area and then lost it (since there's no in-game map). But I still recommend the game highly. Even if one objective proves elusive, you get swept up in something else. The game is all about the side quests really. The dialogue made smile and even laugh a bunch of times. It's not voice acted but if anything that suits the casual tone of the characters better than a recorded voice would, since you hear in in a way that's natural to you. My young daughter ended up loving the game too, as a bonus.

Bit disappointed with this even though I bought it cheap on sale. Thought it might be a good introduction for me to Batman games since I'm not very into combat stuff, but in reality the ending (which I won't spoil) was kinda lost on me because I didn't know some stuff that happened in previous Arkham games. I went back to see if I could have some fun with the Riddler bits, and just found them super frustrating. I had to look up online just to find out what I was meant to do, let alone how to do it. The official game manual is no use, but I did get some help on unofficial websites. I feel like I play enough games to generally get how games work, but it felt like I was lacking explanation at various points with this one and just waiting around for ages to accidentally guess the right thing. I found the aiming of the batarang and grapnel gun kinda wonky so it wasn't quite as fun as it could have been. The good stuff: I enjoyed looking around at the environments. Some of the story moments were cool on my first run through. No motion sickness.

Initially I bought this because it was cheap and it fit easily on the 1GB internal storage on my Vita Slim. I've ended up getting a huge amount of enjoyment out of it - more than I expected. At first it seemed like there wasn't heaps of content because the Championship mode isn't super long, but it's begun to dawn on me that the Special Events give you loads more to do, most of which will become available after you win a bunch of Championship events. I haven't even tried the Drift Events yet. I would vaguely liken the gameplay to Mario Kart - a series I've dabbled in sometimes but never got totally hooked on. The different vehicles do drive differently to one another due to their varying stats. The weapon pickups and wheel upgrades give plenty of variety, and I like that some events prohibit or emphasise certain items to mix things up. There are short events if you just want a 5min session, and longer multi-round events too. I saw a review that said power-ups can only be used via the touchscreen, but in fact they are also assigned to the L and R shoulder buttons so it's all good! There is an option to buy coins (for upgrades) with real money, but I've never even come close to doing that. You can earn plenty of coins in the Championships and other events to buy upgrades. I've come across one or two bugs but they seem really rare and if anything they have made me laugh rather than caused any frustration :)

Fun, calming puzzle game with seemingly infinite levels (as long as you have an internet connection). I still dip into this regularly. My only criticisms are that I didn't find the instructions super clear at first, and it takes a while to open the app (maybe because it's trying and failing to connect to the discontinued Near feature) but these don't stop me from enjoying this FREE game :)
