Relentlessly heartwarming and thoroughly charming. Please somebody reboot this triumph post haste.

Phenomenal cast. Great timing all around. And of course always deeply satisfying to see Topher Grace at it again with another loveable dork of a "main" character.

Instant classic. Justin Spitzer is batting 1000 in my book with Superstore and now this gem. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Piercingly relatable and heartwarming by turns. Brilliant cast. Often topical, never preachy. Tempting to compare, favorably, with The Office (American). An absolute triumph.

Not three episodes in, and this down-to-earth homage to all things northern (okay, northern American (okay, northern post-colonial Turtle Island)) had already snuggled deeply into my psyche as a warm and reliable comfort. Well done, all.

MacGruber (2021): Season 17
Dec 29, 2021
Looks great, but where are Forte and Wiig? I just forced myself to finish episode 5. Nice helicopters, I guess? Wiig is allowed barely a pair of 30-second gags (they are wonderful, classic Wiig, both her opening number and her "ad libbed" speech a few episodes later). However, the whole thing feels like it's resting just a bit heavy on the humor inherent in many of the situations. Too much of the dialogue is just exposition. If I were a professional critic or comic, I might take the time to go back, rewatch this plodding excuse for a talkie, come up with a few more devastating turns of phrase, and list the dozens of missed opportunities for this film's all-star cast to have landed any number of the kinds of quips we all know and love them for. Please do better next season. I want to hear "30 seconds, MacGruber!" at least twice in every episode, not once in five. I want about a thousand times more expert engineering and Tandying by Forte. And maybe pick up the pace in the editing room. Do I make myself perfectly clear? I love you all very much. (Last Man on Earth should have gotten another twenty seasons, change my mind.)
