Always painful to sit through a film trying too hard to be edgy. This was excruciating. Endless yammering, garbled slathering, muddled babbling, awkward preening and sword fights. Brad cranked it up to maximum vapidity with this one. At least in Snatch he was being intentionally annoying and incomprehensible. Here he's just a mealymouthed, permastoned, mentally invalid, mouth breathing snowflake. His most autobiographical role to date. The script is hacky, the action cheesy, the acting atrocious, the direction kitschy. It's as if the filmmakers literally set out to make the worst trainwreck possible. Hell, this dumpster fire wasn't even filmed in Japan. Hollywood just doesn't know how to make interesting, original films anymore. At least it wasn't another cookiecutter superhero mcmovie, I'll give it that. I guess they're trying as best they can, can't ask any more from these bugs than that.

Another bland Marvel superhero **** out of the blockbuster studio mcmovie factory. When will they stop making these clown shows and why do people keep consuming them?

The previous movies were silly enough to begin with, now they are just a parody unto themselves. Certainly won't be taking the kids to see moronic tripe like this. They just need to stop milking this dead franchise and move on.

Marvel needs an intervention. These imbecilic Thor films were bad enough before that vapid hysteric Waititi got a hold of them. Marvel, just stop. It's over.

I confess, I'm biased as a fan of Nick's and some of his...quirkier films. Ever since Wild at Heart and especially Leaving Las Vegas, I can't help but identify with him on some level. Given the premise of this film, you'd definitely need a soft spot in your heart for the lead if you expect any kind of entertainment value out of this silly farce. Cage and Pascal have great chemistry, Pascal manages to pull off a surprisingly decent performance. He's a natural fit for this role given his vapid, ego-centric personality in real life. Whether the filmmakers intentionally cast him to contrast the blissful ignorance and utter lack of self-awareness he routinely displays in public with Cage's self-deprecation, I'll let others decide. It certainly plays off well against Nick's manic energy and exploits his well known personal dramas for some cheap laughs at his own expense. At least there's one Hollywood actor left who doesn't consider himself to be the paragon of virtue and social justice, above even the slightest criticism, stunning and brave, to be admired by all. Bravo, Nick.
