Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition8
Jan 16, 2015
I was kind of excited that this a free plus game this month, it is certainly worth the free download. It took me a few minutes to get used to old school game rules (no checkpoints, having t manually save and no regenerating health) but once I got back into old habits it was fun. I'm not sure how this will appeal to younger gamers who aren't enjoying the nostalgia but anyone who has played it before will enjoy it. It comes with the entire game plus what looks like DLC I didn't even know existed. There is a lot of content to enjoy so I recommend it highly. It also includes multiplayer. The only downside is the fact that the environments don't look great when you look up and around ( it was designed before twin sticks allowed you to look up and down) but I would recommend this as a full featured good time on the Vita.

I remember when Vita launched this was touted as one of if the not best launch games. After trying it out I'm a little underwhelmed. The atmosphere is great, it makes good use of the Vitas various capabilities but I found the difficulty varied between painfully easy and frustratingly hard, now that being said I'm not a huge "puzzler guy" so maybe I'm just being a baby about it. Is you have ps plus snag it, otherwise if would only pay for it his game if it is sale.

Titan Attacks!6
Dec 13, 2014
I picked this up for play station plus and was a little bummed that it is basically a space invaders clone. That being said I think anyone who loves Arcady type games will enjoy it. It is like I said a space invaders clone, you earn points by moving back and forth along the bottom of the screen shooting down aliens which at the end of each round can spend to restore your shields or use to but new weapons and upgrades. My biggest complaint is that shields don't replenish in between rounds and. They are not cheap to buy. If you have ps plus snag it, if not I would only buy it for like a buck on a flash sale or if you are into this type of old school arcade style game.

I had heard good things about this game so I was excited to pick it up, essentially you fly around a little plane taking on boats, planes, shooting down missiles etc... You play on a randomly generated 2d plane until you die then use your points to buy upgrades and try again. I'm usually not into these games but it did hook me for awhile. The flying mechanic is a little tricky to learn. You have shields which regenerate when you stop shooting,me mechanic I thought worked very well. While not totally for me it is easy to see why this is popular, I could see it being addicting for some.

I would buy a vita if the only game available for it was Minecraft. It is just such an amazing, deep (mining pun), and fun game. If you have played it on last Gen it is the same game you can pop to same save back and forth between ps3 and Vita. You will notice a graphical difference between vita and next gen, but Minecraft isn't about the graphics anyway. If you've only ever play it via pocket edition it is exponentially better. Come on folks get it, just go get it.

Fun, deep, varied gameplay. Minecraft is one of those games that can be played so many different ways, next gen just makes it a little deeper and look prettier. For the price it is any easy buy. Don't expect a whole new game just expect the same great game with a graphical bump if you owned it on 360 and loved it, it is a no brainier. Come on what are you going to do, not play Minecraft.

I just got this game for free with the EA giveaway but I've been thinking about picking it up since launch but it was always on my back burner. I'm glad I got it because it is wacky fun class based shooter safe for young and old alike. It is refreshing that instead of build the perfect soldier (the COD) model most shooters follow you have set characters each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I also enjoy that if my children are nearby they are not going to hear or see anything traumatizing. I usually prefer first person over third person but this didn't bother me past the first match. The game includes both cooperative play as well as competitive multilayer I'm not super deep into the game but I know that this game will always be a great break from the more realistic shooters I also enjoy playing.

Just Dance 2014 (French)8
Dec 13, 2014
I'm not a big "dancer" but I picked this up on sale because it is a good game to have at parties or when we do "fun days" at school. I bought it in the summer and didn't crack the wrapper till November but when we set it up on the projector in the gym for a youth night I decided it was a good buy. I've bought just dance for the wii before but the kinect hard some solid advantages. 1) you can do up to 6 players at once which is great for events 2) not having to track down all my wiimotes 3) never needs extra batteries. 4) because it uses the kinect it will record the dancers and play back a sped up version which is usually pretty entertaining. These can be saved, discarded or posted on social media. The motion tracking isn't perfect, but certainly no worse than the wii, I found the song selection to be the weakest of any of the just dance games, but that is a preference thing. Unless you are really into this type of thing you probably won't play it all the time but those times you do break it out with friends it will be well worth it. If you are crazy into it, there are plenty of unlocks etc... To keep it interesting.

Full disclosure I'm not a racing guy, I picked up this game because it was 10$ at target for that price it was about right for me. It is a beautiful game with lots of cars and race options, the cars level up as you play them and the rewind option is forgiving. The downside is I started to find it boring, the races all begin to feel the same pass 3/4 of the cars in the first minute. Overtake the leaders in lap 2 maintain lead for the rest of the game. Because of the rewind button once you are in the lead you never lose it. Which is why I love and hate it. I always hated that with racing one mistake means having to run the race again, but in the flip side rewind makes the races boring. But again as I said this is a review for the non racer.

Peggle 28
Dec 13, 2014
I'm normally not a puzzle/ arcade type of gamer, but Peggle is just plain fun, I play a lot of shooters and open world games sometimes it is nice to play a low intensity slower paced fun game. The classical music, funny level bosses, and plinko style gameplay is thoroughly satisfying. My only complaint is that the phone version has at least 10 bosses while this one only has like 5 but there is still a lot of game to play. If you are not sure about shelling out the 15$ then grab the iPhone version and see if it appeals to you but it is not hard to see why this game is so popular and addicting.

Far Cry 49
Dec 13, 2014
I was a big fan of Far Cry 3 so when I heard that 4 was basically 3 with nicer graphics and a different map I was on board! While those short descriptions were true 4 has some definite improvements on 3 the inclusion of little helicopters made traveling long stretches easier, and faster but you always feel like a part of the world you are basically dangling under the prop of a homemade helicopter so you can see everything going on you can see and hear the world around you. I often see something going on below me and drop in to check it out. The radio towers and outposts are alive and well which is great. This game includes Fortresses which are very difficult to tackle on your own. Thankfully you can do almost anything in game (except story missions) with a friend. I've only done it a few times but it was seamless and fun. Story wise (no spoilers) I enjoy my character and his story, and the world around me more, but the protagonist while interesting is not someone you see that much. This is a well crafted, deep game I would highly recommend.

I bought this game when it was on a flash sale for 99 cents, it was an awesome game it was challenging but not frustrating. I loved how they took this simple puzzler and made it so much more interesting by giving each small shape a name and personality as well as a British narrator to chronicle their journey. The only reason I gave it an 8 instead of a 10 is that I found it somewhat short for a 10$ game. (probably because it was so good I rushed through it) but if you love puzzlers or get it on sale it is a must buy.

Borderlands 28
May 16, 2014
I have been pretty pumped for this game for some time. I heard about rough first drafts but I remained optimistic. I scoured the internet for reviews after the release of the early edition ( I had to wait) I was pretty worried when I saw IGN's review but then I noticed that the Metacritic critic reviews were all over the place it sounded like they were playing different games. I took heart that most of the user reviews were positive. (actually there wasn't a single negative review until the critics started trashing it.) I've been playing it a few days and I'm happy with it. The visuals aren't as crisp and the controls aren't quite as tight as console play but since it is not being played on a console it's hard to hold that against it. One of the big complaints are about the use of the screen and touch pad which I have found to be a non issue, maybe because I'm used to using them on the Vita also I have trigger grips (which I would highly recommend to anyone) and they make accidental swipes less frequent. the sound and gameplay are the same fun I loved from the consoles. If you are on the fence at all pick this game up it's tons of fun and they tossed in lots of DLC. I only wish I had a PS3 so I could cross play.

This game is a fun side scroller with randomly generated environments in which you have to continuously avoid obstacles and grab coins and power ups. The game is simple to learn, difficult to master but lots of fun. You will find yourself saying "one more game" a lot. It is a free game try it out.

The game looks good and has a quirky sense of humour but I found the game got REALLY repetitive, really fast. The gameplay was fun enough for a few minutes but that is about the longest I could see me playing it. If did not try the multiplayer so maybe that would be much more fun but I doubt it. Maybe younger kids would like it where it is so simple. I bought it for 99 cents on a flash sale but I'd say that's the most it is worth.

Killzone: Mercenary9
May 6, 2014
This was the shooter every Vita FPS fan was pinning all their hopes on and we were not disappointed. It looks great, it has loads of single players mission which are fun to play. The multiplayer is deep and fun. I enjoyed the mercenary aspect of the game. Everything you do in both single and multiplayer from headshots to picking up dropped ammo get you credits. These credits can be used to buy weapons, armour, and upgrades. Whatever you buy is available to use in both single and multiplayer. The Vanguards are your "killstreak" type rewards They range from a wrist mounted homing rocket system to a personal shield and are lots of fun. The multiplayer maps and game types are fun. I found the controls in multiplayer a little tricky at first ( I found precision aiming a struggle) but that improved with time I'm not sure if I just got used to it or if they patched it. If feel this is definitely the game Vita owners have been waiting for. Not only did they bring a big Sony licence to our favourite handheld but they tweaked the recipe and made it more original and exciting instead of playing it safe. Great job!

Rayman Legends9
May 6, 2014
I was unsure about buying a platformer for the Xbox One, But I have been very pleased with this purchase. The Rayman brand is fairly new to me I've played Origins on my vita and enjoyed it. The core game play is lots of fun but what makes this a 9 is the sheer amount of content. You have a large game full of levels with lots of replay value (going back to get the collectibles, and max out your lums etc...) There are also fun daily and weekly challenges to tackle. On top of that you can unlock the entire Rayman origins game. This is a great couch multiplayer game (unfortunately no online which would have made it a definite 10) a friend can hop in and play along side you or you can square off against each other in a simple yet fun soccer mini game. If you are looking for a fun game for gamers or non-gamers, this is a great pick up.

It is a top down shooter with a true Halo feel. If you have it on a Microsoft phone or tablet they cross save automatically which is sweet. I think that for what it is ( a top down shooter) it's not bad at all. Don't expect anything amazing as far as story or cinematics but if you like top down shooters it is worth a pick up especially on sale or if you already own it on a Windows device.

If you enjoy hot shots golf etc.. this will entertain you. Unfortunately is not next gen by any stretch. It has fun characters and caddy's along with some fun tweeks like booster cards. I enjoyed that it will let you know your friends top shots on each hole. Unfortunately there is no online or local multiplayer which keeps this a soft 7 instead of a hard 8-9. If you are itching for a golf game or it's on sale pick it up otherwise it's just ok.

Terraria10
Apr 11, 2014
When I was told "it's like a 2D Minecraft" I thought that it sounded like the lamest idea ever but trust me it is anything but. What Terraria lacks in a third dimension it makes up for in depth. There is just so much to see and do in this game. It is like Minecraft in as much as you built yourself a shelter (eventually a castle) and dig ever deeper looking for better ores and treasure. But the sheer amount of unique items you can find and make for yourself is pretty amazing. Also the unique NPC's and bosses are fun. Having up to 8 friends jump into your game is pretty fun too. I also like that on normal mode dying in some cave doesn't mean you lose everything. (just half your cash on hand) so I was less chicken to take risks. I am excited to hit the Vita soon, but after Terraria it might seem too simple. This is one of the flat out best Vita games out there. Buy it.

Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt7
Sep 1, 2013
Definitely not the best DlC, they have put out. Its not bad. Actually on paper it looks good, interesting new locale, a nemesis, tons of weird new, bad guys including the tough witch doctors, but the story was just not entertaining me like I had hoped. Like the Torgue dlc, its not bad by any means it just doesn't click like borderlands can really do when it wants to. Wait for it to go on sale, or don't I'm not the boss of you.

It was a decent DLC, I enjoyed Mr. Torgue who always made me chuckle otherwise it was just OK. Not bad, just nothing special. The location just felt like the rest of the main campaign. Assassin's Creed III: Liberation8
Sep 1, 2013
This is a beautiful, and fun Vita game. It dos not feel like a dumbed down version of Assassins Creed but rather another entry in the franchise. The climbing and exploring are tons of fun. Some people find the persona system gimmicky but I thought it added something fresh. I do find the fighting and cameras can be a little tricky at times and the story is somewhat weak but this feels like an Assassin's Creed game. If you want a Vita game that feels like a console game this might be for you. If you don't love the console versions of the franchise this is not going to turn you around on it.

Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack10
Sep 1, 2013
I wasn't at all surprised to see that (at least at the time I wrote this) there were only positive reviews for this game. I heard this was a fun game back at launch but hadn't really gotten on board the Indy train yet, but I'm glad I finally gave it a try. It is simply a fun, charming, challenging while not frustrating game. You would think a game about a rolling blob would get stale fast, but I'll give it to drinkbox, they are constantly throwing in new little twists to the gameplay. I gave it to my wife to try who is far from an avid gamer and she really enjoyed it. It does a great job of using the Vita's different features without making it feel like a chore. If you like Mario or little big planet do yourself a huge favour and drop a few bucks on this game.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time9
Sep 1, 2013
I've never played a Sly Cooper game before, I thought a platformed on the vita would be fun, although I was a little worried the stealth elements would be a huge pain, because I just don't have the patience for that, but thankfully it is just plain fun. It's got a quirky sense of humour with fun over the top characters. The controls can be a bit tricky at first but once you remember a few button combos you'll be just fine. You are forced to use Vita specific features like the accelerometer a few times but it never gets too heavy handed. It has plenty of unlockables and areas to explore so if you want to squeeze every hour out of this game you should have dozens of hours of fun. The fact that is cross saves with the PS3 is a nice feature as well. I think k this is a solid and fun game any Vita owner should pick up.

I haven't played this game in a few years but I am going back and retroactivly scoring them. While it is not as beautiful as Skyrim is today. For it's time it was an amazing game. It felt like a living breathing word which you happened upon. The fighting and magic were well done. Most of the quests were entertaining. My only complaing was that 3rd person looked atrocious, but since the game is meant to be played in first person, I'll let it slide.

Battlefield 39
Apr 22, 2013
This is a truly fun shooter which feels much deeper than Call of Duty, thats not bashing call of duty. I've logged countless hours playing COD but when I picked up battlefield 2 just to see what it was like I was impressed. The players do not feel as customizable as in COD (although there is still tons of ways to differentiate yourself) but the battle feels much more involved, the specializations, the tanks, the aircraft not that I can fly any yet way too hard for me) I love running around as a Medic healing people and bringing them back from the brink of death. It's not often you can be in the top half of the scoreboard with 1 kill. I haven't played it hardcore organizing strategies with my squad which I suspect is when the game really shines but even without that its still a blast. If you like COD but feel like something Fresh or if you hate playing COD because of the atmosphere) try this game out.

This is an excellent swan song for the 360. This beautiful well made game has been the beautiful story driven game I've been waiting (way too long) for. The use of weapons and plasmids, sorry vigors is just as fun and flexible as in the Rapture based games. It took everything we loved from the first game and transplanted them into this new venue. Now I don't feel that it surpassed the original (except in graphics) It did a great job with gameplay and storytelling but I don't think it really kicked it up a notch. Thats not a complaint, keeping the franchise on par with the original is a huge job which they did well. The addition of the skyhook was fun, allowing you to travel quickly above and below enemies giving fights more depth. The best addition is hands down Elizabeth. Having a companion who not only didn't need babysitting but actually helped YOU out during fights is an awesome feat which many games struggle with. It more than the new locale is what really made this feel like it was worth the wait. The only quibble I was left with was the fact that the story while interesting did not draw me in like Rapture did the first time. I know that judging it by its predecessor is not totally fair but it is what I kept thinking. And yes there is a twist at the end which I did not see coming and I was tying my brain in knots trying to predict what it would be. Bottom line is definitely buy it. It is a fun game with an engaging story, even if it did not surpass my high expectations it was still very good.

New Super Mario Bros. U9
Jan 18, 2013
With Mario you know what your getting a fun side scrolling adventure which you can now play with your friends. I haven't tried it with the gamepad 5th player but it sounds like a good enough idea. I find this game plays best with 2 players as 4 can make it a pain. I like that we are back to one huge world instead of 8 seperate ones (like back in Super Nintendo days) They have added some new game modes and twists to the standard formula ( like the races and chasing a guy through the levels) I don't feel liked Nintendo just dusted off the last version and game it an HD ungrade. My only complaint is that you can't play online co-op. There is no good reason for this. (Little Big Planet) and I think it would really make this a perfect game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified7
Jan 18, 2013
I would give this game a 7.5 in reality. It certainly has some substantial flaws but I think any game I can play for hours on end deserves a solid score. Single player is just ok. The missions are short but serviceacible. The hostiles mode is a decent distraction but I do find it can get boring after awhile. The real value of COD is in the same location as the console version, in the multiplayer. When the game launched getting into a game could be a real pain but after they released an update I would say it is only slightly less stable than the console version. You might get the odd dropped game but not often. Over Christmas I logged many hours on the multiplayer and what I noticed first was the fact that I had just as much fun playing it as I did when I played the xbox version. It certainly is not on par with the XBOX version but it was still a lot of fun. I was worried about only having 6 maps but they all play well. Having nukehouse and seeing the return of my all time favourite shipment really dulled the pain. I found the customization options deep and fun to play with. I would say my main complaint with the online is the lack of game types. deathmatch, kill confirmed, free for all and dropzone. The first 3 play the same. I would have enjoyed seeing a few different types just for a change of pace but at least dropzone keeps things fresh. My bottom line is It's not perfect but its fun. If you are looking for a Vita shooter. I would recommend this as a great multiplayer option. If you are looking for a deeper single player option I would grab Unit 13 ( although it is 3rd person)

This is a fun action centered RPG with an interesting story. It's exciting to see a new character in the video game universe. This is an RPG that fan's of shooters can easily sink their teeth into. As I said before the story is the heart and soul of this game. The only downsides are the frequent and often lengthy loading times. It is neat that you can land and roam around on most planets but it is usually boring and repetative. If you are one of the few who haven't picked up this game I recommend it. The graphics might be a little dated at this point in the consoles lifespan but it is worth it for the story and the two sequels who build on this foundtation.

This was a very well done game an excellent succesor of the original. It is a shooter with some RPG elements which takes us back to Rapture an underwater city which captured my imagination the first time I visited. The action is very narrative driven which I love in a game and while I did not find the story quite as captivating as the original it is still very well done. I think they actually improved several aspects of the game such as the hacking mechanic which I did not enjoy in the last game. The action in this game hinges around preparing for battles with the big sister characters. Unlike Big Daddy's they are very fast and hard to pin down. The multiplayer doesn't really do much for me but that takes nothing away from a very solid single player experiance. Pick up this game if you haven't

This is one of the worst games I've ever played, It tries so hard to be an Oblivion and I really wanted it to be I was so excited for it. It is one of the few games I've ever bought without reading reviews I really got ****. Because of it with a few exceptions I always wait and buy after I've gotten the lay of the land first. The gameplay itself is lackluster, imprecise and just plain boring, I found the menu's cumbersome and difficult to understand. I know RPG menu's are usually deep but this was murky. Oblivion feels like it was written by a master of Fantasy while this feels like they hired a 2nd year English major to give it their best shot. I knew this game was no classic when I watched the first cut scene which looked ok but sounded awful I mean "taint" ? Really ? come on! Unless you are a die hard RPG fan who has played everything else, or you have a fetish for atrocious writing I would pass on this one.

Star Trek: Legacy7
Dec 4, 2012
I was torn about what to give this game I think from a sterile, objective standpoint it deserves a 6.5 but for a trekkie (which if you aren't why the heck did you buy this game) I felt it was an 8, so I split the difference) The story takes you through most of the entire series. The controls can be tricky at first but I think the game does a good job tutoring you on system control through the first few forgiving levels. It is not a game you can hand your friend and expect them to do well with however (at least not right off the bat) In single player you feel like you are managing more aspects of the ship, things like tweeking the engines, scanning, transporting, transfering power. I liked to feel like I had more to do than just point the ship and fire away. In the online or skirmishing modes thats basically all you do transfer auxilliary power to weapons of shilelds (depending how you roll) and get into it. Single player felt a little more involved, while the story was nothing extraordinary is was engaging enough (sorry bad pun) to keep me interested. I spent most of my time in skirmish more ( I found it hard to find online matches) you can have up to 4 ships in your fleet at once and you can customize things like size of fleet, which era of ships or set a budget) There are several maps which include various planets, asteroids or nebulas ( all of which affect your ships in different way) To get around fast you use warp which can be finiky to use but usually gets you into or out of battles quickly. Phasers drain enemy shields while torpedoes will do heavy hull damage once shields are offline. These battles take place is a 3D plane so you can have ships above or below you as well as around you. smaller lightly armed ships are faster and more manuverable while capital ships can take and give a trememdous beating but don't exactly turn on a dime. I thought there was a lot of replayability here and enjoyed the battles. I think if you like video games and star trek this is a solid pick up for you. It won't be your favourite game but you will probably never sell it for those days when you feel like taking the helm and making playing XBOX even nerdier than usual. The downsides are weak multiplayer community (at least when I played), ho-hum single player and when a ships blows up it can look a bit blocky My bottom line is if your not into Star Trek probably pass, if you like or love Star Trek give it a try, it's worth the 15-20 $ it costs now.

It has lots of content and the AI director changes how each level plays making it a game which always offers new challenges. Single player is solid but this was a game meant to be played with friends. The game emphasizes teamwork, lone wolves don't last long. Pick this game up if you and your online posse are looking for a new challenge or even just a change of pace from COD or other traditional shooters.

Mario Kart 79

I'm not that into racing games so for someone like me to give a racing game 9 out of 10 you know it's good. The driving mechanics are tight and responsive, drifting to boost is always rewarding. There is an impressive library of courses and you can tackle each one several ways. I enjoyed being able to customize my Kart and the fact that a glider will pop out when you are airborne was a fun addition. The online is very well done and lots of fun. It is a game a hardcore gamer can enjoy or you can toss it to a first timer and they will get the hang of it very quickly. I do wish you could make your own courses like modnation racers but with a library so big your not going to get bored anytime soon. Great work nintendo MarioKart keeps its place at the top of the kart racing pyramid.

Super Mario 3D Land9

When Mario 64 came out I thought it was cool, but I struggled to get into the game, so when I heard about this game I was wary of it at first. I picked up the game so I would have something to tackle over the Christmas holidays. I'm glad I did because I found the game thoroughly enjoyable. Nintendo did a great job making a 3D Mario feel like the 2D world (in a good way) I found the missions challenging but never frustratingly difficult. The one time I was struggling after dying 10 times or so the game started me off with a powerup to give me a boost. I think this is a must own game for the 3DS system.

This is about what you would expect from a launch pack in game. It showcases what the wii U can do. It is a collection of mini-games you will hate a few love a few and be lukewarm to the rest. I personally would not pick it up separatly if it hadn't already been packed in because I'm not that into casual games but I like having it because it has lots of games you can play solo or with others and it was a nice introduction to the wii. I think if you are buying for kids who don't already have it, it would be a solid pick up. My wife plays if more than I do which I love because it's great to see her getting into games. I will play this game until Christmas until I pick up the Mario for the wii U. Bottom line however you felt about wii sports is most likely how you will feel about this.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii9
Nov 29, 2012
This is a classic mario side scroller, with enough new twists to make it worth the pick up. The game looks gorgeous but familiar. The ability to play with multiple people at once is fun at first but quickly descends into choas. If you are easily annoyed or are playing it with siblings remove all breakable items from the room first, however; in a party type scenario it can be a hoot. You know mario you know what your getting classic stages that look better, with the ability to play together I think this is a must own for the system.

Cooking Mama: Cook Off7
Nov 29, 2012
This is your classic wii game it is quirky, unique and takes advantage of the wiimote motion controls. I didn't love this game but I'm not really that into the wii. It would be a great game to play with friends, or significant other (as I did) You can race to complete the recipes against one another. There are a decent variety of different cooking techniques you can simulate with the different recipes. It seems to appeal more to girls and children (as do many wii games) It is simple and fun for what it is. If you are a hardcore gamer, pass if you are looking for something to play with the uninitiated then it may be worth picking up.

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution9
Nov 28, 2012
If I have 10 minutes to kill I play Angry Birds, If I have 20 minutes- a few hours I play Civ Rev. If you have ever played the Xbox or PS3 version of the game, it is the same game with simpler graphics. Every little bit of strategy is there. I was so impressed with this game. For the uninitiated, it is a turn based strategy game which has you choosing a civilization (Rome, Japan, American, Britain etc...) each with their own unique bonuses and you start out at the stone age and grow with them through to the space age. You can win through one of 4 ways, you can capture the 4 other enemy capitals, you can win an economic victory (save up enough gold, , then build a world bank) You can win a scientific victory by researching enough technology to build and launch a space ship which reaches the nearest solar system or you can win a cultural victory by being the most sophisticated building wonders. The military aspect alone of this game makes it worth it. As you develop you go from warriors, to legions, to tanks, to bombers. But the other victories are much easier to win, however you will need to learn how to defend yourself from attacks which if you prepare properly will crash against you city walls as harmlessly as waves against a stone. Most games take a few hours but I usually start a new one as soon as I'm done showing you how much fun it is. It is a very deep game which will take you a while to learn all the nuances, the basics are easy enough and the lower difficulties are very forgiving. My only qualms are with the fact fact that looking around the map can be a pain at times and sometimes I accidentally move troops while I'm doing it, but this does little to take away from my love for this game. If you are tired of all the simple pick up and play games that choke the apple store and are looking for something deeper to sink your teeth into, this is the game for you.

Sid Meier's Pirates!7
Nov 28, 2012
I have bought and sold this game several times (usually after watching a Pirates of the Caribean movie.) It is fun to roam the open sea's hunting for ships to attack and treasure to dig up. It is an interesting open world environment with ports to explore and ships to capture. It is fun building your fleet and pimping out your ships but I found that the game gets repetitive, I mean how many times do I have to dance with some governors daughter. I think this game has a solid build but I do find that after a few hours I tended to lose interest (hence the buying and selling) but if your looking for a few hours of fun on the high sea's it could be a good pick up for you.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron9
Nov 28, 2012
This is a very solid PSP game packed with tons of value. There is a single player campaign which can be bland at times but is still interesting, online multiplayer and galactic conquest. The single player missions involve fighting with an army against another army for control of capture points around a Star Wars map. The more you hold the faster your enemies reinforcement tickets count down, first team to run out of them loses. This is a great mix of action and strategy. You can customize the loadouts of your player depending on your mood and needs. want to be annoying? use a jetpack to flit around the map. Need to bring down a walker? make your primary weapon a rocket launcher. Or you can settle for a regular blaster rifle but instead gain more powerful shields or the ability to capture control points faster. This battlefront gives players the highest level of customization of any Star Wars Battlefront ever. The space battles also have their charms, you can bring down enemy ships by hitting thier many weak points with torpedoes or fly into thier hangar and bring them down from within. The online was fun and adds depth and replayability to the game. The conquest mode is like a game of space Risk where you have to actually play out a single player battle first in space then on the ground to capture an area. This game did have some drawbacks. The controls are not natural at first but you get used to them and the story is lame and does not add much to the Star Wars canon, This game is in my opinion one of the fullest packages ever crammed into a UMD and will provide hours of entertainment.

Resistance: Retribution9
Nov 28, 2012
This is a solid shooter for the PSP, it has weird controls like every other PSP shooter but you get used to them quite quickly. The story is interesting and it actually has functional multiplayer! This is a must buy whether you like the Resistance franchise, shooters or both.

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational9
Nov 28, 2012
Hot shots was one of my favourite games on the PSP they were both beautiful on the system with challenging but fun gameplay. Thankfully the Vita version lives up to and builds upon this legacy. While I don't normally enjoy sports games but golf feels more like a strategy game to me. It's relatively easy to learn but hard to master. I was shocked when IGN gave it such a rough review. The reviewer bemoaned the fact that one bad shot can ruin a game at the harder levels, but that's golf so I'm not sure how he can really complain. Although in his defence the online wasn't up and running at the time of the review. The online is lots of fun and the single player is deep with loads of clothing items, courses and golfers to unlock and level up. At this point the regular price is 20$ and it goes on for 10$ I think this is a must but for the vita owner. It looks great, there is loads of content, even if you don't love sports games give it a try.
