I bought a PS3 a couple of weeks back, because of the Uncharted series. So I bought the two games platinum brand new for a bargain price. I first played Drakes Fortune which was very impressive but maybe not the best. Then I went into Uncharted 2 upon hearing all the positive reviews. I put the disc in my console and started the game. WOW!!!!! What a start. Breathtaking and tense this game simply amazed me from the very start of you climbing the train that is barely hanging on a cliff, to the final missions. The only problem with this game is that certain gun play and platforming sections can be infuriating. Why? Because the combat can be very difficult with certain enemies and I found my self dying to often for my liking, the platforming is absolutely brilliant except certain parts can be a bit difficult to know where to go next. Despite saying this the pacing is absolutely brilliant. It has amazing set pieces throughout, and such a brilliant amount of different things you can do. Splinter Cell style stealth sections, brilliant cover systems and weapons, awesome platforming movements and the best graphics to date. Me mumbling on about how good this game is (the best that I have ever played, and I have played plenty on both Xbox 360 and PS3), doesn't do it enough justice. The characters are brilliant and superbly detailed in movement and facial expressions. Amazing, move over Red Dead Redemption I have a new favourite. Roll on to the third game, Naughty Dog are experts at what they do and they do it better than any one, it's worth buying the PS3 just because of this game. Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion on DEAD RISING 2 is full of disappointment towards this. Dead Rising back in 2006 was a new and unique take on a video game although I don't rate that too highly either. Sure there is fun to be had in this comical sandbox, but underneath this fun lies clunky controls and a frustrating frame rate considering games such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption can make huge game worlds look nice and smooth this game can't even make a little setting such as this look good. But does it have a good story?, you ask. No, the story is absolutely atrocious and quite possibly the worst thing about the game simple and ridiculous, the man sets out on a mission to save his daughter who with out this thing pathetically called Zombrex (the cure) will turn into a zombie, so he needs to hurry doesn't he? Apparently not, along the way he still has time to go in shops and wear silly little outfits which is preposterous, absolutely preposterous, or perhaps he secretly wants his daughter to die, well that's the best I can think of to redeem this crumby story. There is a mine-ute amount of fun to be had but too repetitive in the long hall. There are fun weapons to use and outrageous ways to kill the zombies but gets boring very easily. The competitive modes are fun and about the best feature in this game. If you enjoyed the first one then what I've just written shouldn't matter but those who were disappointed in the original one will not feel any different towards this. Summary: Fun at first but becomes repetitive and boring with a terrible story that is simply not up to standard considering a lot of games around these days. The biggest disappointment for me is that in four years nothing has changed and that quite frankly is not good enough, simple as. It gets a four because it is unique that is the only thing this has going for it.

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is a definite competitor for game of the year and if it won it I wouldn't be overly surprised. There is only one game that is standing in its way and that is the mighty Red Dead Redemption. This game is quite possibly better than Gears of War, as the combat is very similar but the cover system could use a little work to be considered Gears of War good. The story is possibly the best feature about the game as it is a compelling space opera, with a great script and a beautifully detailed world to explore. If you are even remotely interested in the Sci-fi genre then this is an absolute must, although maybe not every ones cup of tea as the game can sometimes drag on a bit between missions. Without spoiling anything lets just say this has one of the most epic endings that a video game could have, rivaling the masterful Red Dead Redemption. This is a very personal game as you can control nearly everything your characters says and does, but what is most impressive is how the other characters react in such a way that truly makes you feel what you say makes a difference. There are also choices to make like who to defend if an argument brakes out between fellow crew members and it is up to you how you deal with the situation (choosing sides or being mutual). Beware this can have a huge effect on how the final sequence plans out which is why this game is so impressive and unique to most of the other games out there. You can be nice or you can be nasty in your reactions to your characters which you talk to. This gain you positive or negative reactions. So if your still reading this you must be some what interested in the game so why not just pop out and get it, it can be picked up fairly cheap these days.

Although this is the review for the PS2 version which is considerably poorer than the Gamecube version, this still warrants a perfect score simply because although the game doesn't seem as crisp as the original Gamecube exclusive it is still absolutely brilliant even in the 2010 five years on. The reason for people who have played the Gamecube version to buy this is because you can pick it up for a very cheap price now and you get a brilliant extra mode involving Ada Wong that fits into the game perfectly and its clear that the developers obviously planned this, because if they hadn't surely it shouldn't have been this good, and extra clothes and weapons for you to use. Ok enough about the bonus stuff. There is 20 hours of gameplay to be enjoyed here for first time players, when I first went through it I done it in just under 17 hours, and with all the special weapons I must have set some kind of record in completing it in exactly 2 hours and 43 minutes. Please post a review stating whether you have done the game in less time. Brilliant characters also with great facial animations and some of the most epic boss battles ever, none of them disapoint. Onto the mercenaries which to be honest could have been a game on its own if there had been a couple more levels thrown into it. Check this game out you won't be dissapointed at all. Absolutely the best horror game ever made, and right up there with the best game ever along with the new games. An absolute gem of game. Buy, Buy, Buy!!!!!!!!!

Well, well, well, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West where to begin. How about Enslaved if not for Red Dead Redemption would be my vote for game of the year. Never has such a game made me feel for the characters how I did when plating this. Such a low metascore of 81, this should be in the mid nineties it is that good. The controls which have come under scrutiny by the critics seem absolutely fine to me and are perfectly suited to the game. Monkey and Trip are two of the greatest video game characters that I have seen (Trip=hot). The amount of detail that are in the facial expressions is incredible, and the voice acting is brilliant. This game has amazing set piece after set piece (especially the opening and ending sequences). The platforming part of the game is genius because sure it is almost impossible to die, but that's what the games creators wanted it to be like. It just makes you feel like a movie and your the main character. The presentation is of the highest quality, breathtaking visuals and an awesome soundtrack make this game essential in my eyes. 10/10 well done Namco/Ninja Theory. Fingers crossed for more.

As impressive as it is, there are still plenty of problems which fair enough, some are forgivable but others can be down right annoying beyond belief. Ever played someone when your passes go totally the opposite to where you aimed them. Another thing is when playing against the computer you may pass the ball a bit weak, but your player will never run to get the ball yet the oppositions player will. Impressive footballing game none the less but still needs some improvements.â

This is a review of a half complete Vanquish. The graphics, controls, combat cover system and level design is all top notch nothing more needs to be said, just buy the game and see for your self. There are several brilliant set pieces that are amazing and kind of similar to those in Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Bayonetta. This may not be the best game this year (Red Dead Redemption, Enslaved, Mass Effect 2) but it is unique and more entertaining than playing Gears of War because the unrelenting action never lets up. I see this as a good thing though I'm sure some of you don't.

Is Red Dead Redemption a masterpiece? Simple answer: Yes! "Why?" you ask. Because it takes the already amazing Grand Theft Auto IV formula and improves it. The storyline is right up there with any game that I have played and in all fairness would make a brilliant Hollywood Epic western. The game starts off fairly slow, don't worry the game benefits hugely from this. It makes the game feel more real as you will find out if you've played the game. The missions are varied and are superb fun. I have completed the game three times now and still enjoy getting back on my horse and ride across the beautiful landscape. There has been plenty of times when I've been riding my horse when I have just stopped to look at the beautiful scenery. The games graphics are slightly improved upon from Grand Theft Auto and the facial details are brilliant, you really get a sense of how the character is feeling. This is another high point as you become attached to certain characters throughout the game and grow to care about how the story pans out. Take on grizzly bears, climb mountains, become a train robber. There are cool side missions that you can complete as well. There is 30-40 hours of game play here for you to spend your time with and it is well and truly time well spent. Epic gaming, Masterpiece of a story. Buy now for some awesome gaming!
