Steins;Gate Elite3

I'm shocked at how generally positive the reception to the animation is. I loved both the show and the original game but I found them to be a horrible and jarring mix here. It is great that this release gives a playable version of Steins;Gate on Switch and other modern consoles but I would absolutely not call this the definitive experience. if you're able, play the original game on Steam instead!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe9

You may not like it, but this is what the perfect party game looks like. I don't even think I need a Mario Kart 9 with all the content they keep adding to this game, but I do find myself missing my main monkey Funky Kong from Mario Kart Wii.

Cave Story Plus6

I played a ton of Cave Story when I was younger, and I was fully expecting to have a rollicking good time revisiting it on Switch, but I can't help feel like some of the soul is missing with this release. Perhaps it was due to Nicalis' meddling, or maybe I'm just getting old and jaded, but I can't see myself recommending this game to many people when there are so many other great action platformers out there nowadays. Also, this is definitely my age showing, but the original soundtrack is the way to go.

If you get the opportunity to mess around with a VR set, or own one and somehow haven't played this, do yourself a favor and give it a shot. It is a positively electrifying experience (though it could serve to be a little more content-heavy)

Into the Breach6

The roguelike mechanics actually feel like a shockingly poor fit for the game, especially considering the developers' pedigree. It's still worth giving a shot for a couple hours if you're into strategy games, but the game's replayability is not its strong suit.

I've got to be honest, as a casual fan of shoot 'em ups and mecha anime, this game thoroughly whelmed me. I found very little to enjoy in the core gameplay and the few unique takes on the formula, while interesting in theory, are horrifically unfun in execution. If this is really the best the genre has to offer, I'm not sure it's for me.
