Editing this review for grammar... A gem, among so many games today that in my honest opinion, are not complex enough to enjoy. My interest in the original Startopia classic from the early 2000's is much like my rating for the new Startopia II experience released Oct 23, 2020 about twenty years later. Just like the original, the second release takes a day to learn, but I would say years to understand how to reach a 95% station rating.I would rate both games a 10 or above. Had I been the programmer for Spacebase Startopia, or Startopia II as I like to call it, I would have added only one pro to the pros / cons list I will list for your below, and that is that service buildings should have an option to change the cost / per service on the 2nd floor Fun Deck. The original had this, and I loved that feature. What the original didn't have and Startopia II brings to the table, diserves not a 10 but an 11 on the scale. A soundtrack, dare I say, even better than the first game, with real instruments for some tracks, 'a factory feel' for the 1st floor Production Deck of music tracks, and synthesizer songs and drums & bass for some of the best electronica 'techno' feel for the 2nd floor, and lastly the 3rd floor Bio Deck with a tranquil set of tracks sound similar to the original bio deck -- leave little to desire from the music. The music to me was the least of the fascinations, so let me share some more details.Aside from the background music, the miniture sprite animations of each individual alien person on the space base, and not only that, but their animations inside or with buildings they interact with, leave nothing to the imagination, except watching them from time to time meticulously, and guessing what will happen next! With over 36 unique buildings, about 20 of these on the Fun Deck alone, you may find yourself asking if you can ever get bored with the animations? I feel after playing for nearly 4 years now, the answer is no, I am still enjoying watching them go about their day on on this station resort! If the following spurs your interest with great animation, very interesting interactions of new and similar buildings from the original, and balancing the economy of income to you as the space base owner, and the alien's enjoyment to want to stay in your hotels on the 2nd deck, or take off in their shuttle to return a few days later, the challenge is set out for you: Help them work to stay on your space base, but give them enough enjoyment and relaxation on decks 2 and 3, and you will find yourself with an 80 or higher percentage station rating. That is not all. No, there is more, much more, but to keep this review as concise as I can I will add only one more part which is one of my favorites: The wars. I do miss the Kasvagorian warriors from Startopia original, however, there is something else that was added to Startopia II which I would have done nothing different about had I designed this game! Mechs! Yes, indeed. They have introduced mech warriors to be a robotic AI team controlled by you on your side to fight the opposing space base commanders.Pros:The same gameplay and animations + better animations than the original.More challenging with the station rating than the original.Mechs are not for the faint of heart and are easily brutally fun! For the soft-hearted, choose a non-violent breakthrough.Aside from the classic start of free play, there is a quick-start option which at start unlocks two starting production deck rooms and lots of basic technology, the first 10 seconds.Cons:The services buildings cannot have manually adjusted **** trader ship Star Dock is not without its bugs.Need I say more?Want to play with us online as friends or 1vs1? Yes we play most days of the year. Join us by searching for Spacebase Startopia on **** bad I couldn't rate this eleven, because it disserved that. You will find that people who rate it less don't really enjoy complex games. If you want a challenge, if you want to have wars, or win in a peaceful way, look no further but to hang out with our group online in our Discord. Begin by writing in our Reddit to get invited.

This is hands down the most amazingly, awesome game out there for PC/PS5! It has a combination of these games, all of which I loved: sneaking around assasinations= Hitman / Hitman 2. Hacking and codebreaking and finding your way into secure buildings= Deus Ex and Deus Ex 2, An on-going save system that feels like a real life experience, rather than a Save / Load your game type of videogame =Bioshock, and some games I haven't played but here are good: Dishonored, and Dishonored 2. The top ten things about this game are from 10 being least cool to 1 being Awesomeness: 10. Guns, lots of guns! Makes The Matrix look like a 1st day in the army where this is World War III. Think Borderlands games lots, not quite, but you get my idea. 9. You can hack anything that has a radio reciever. Didn't you wish you could hack a radio reciever in real life in the city, such as a cellphone tower? Well here you can. That keeps me coming back for more hacking tomorrow and the next day. 8. The AI chases you down and kills you. In the beginning, the first 5-10 hours the AI is very easy as it's in 'learning mode' once you keep playing after 9 hours you'll begin to realize how hard-core the AI can be. I was head-shotted by a sniper rifle, not Juliana human now..., but an NPC sniper on the side of the ridge. Shot through a window, I died. Very fast. 7. Juliana can be your worst nightmare or your most trusted friend: I enjoy killing other players as human Juliana. I enjoy other Julianas' invading my game too, to try to ruin my day. But what I like most? I can have my family member play as Juliana and we can kill the NPCs together, even the bosses. 6. There is no linear mission play-through. You cannot say: You will do this, that, and then next that. There are recommended guides online on order of doing things, but you can do them a different way anyway. The guide said there were 2 ways. I discovered 5 different ways to assassinate Harriet in the morning. See if you can too. 5. If you enjoyed old-school games like Bioshock and Deus Ex, you will absolutely love this. It will blow you away. As it has aspects from many older games all put into one package. Liked Borderlands 1, 2 , and 3? Then you'll fit right at home here. Did you enjoy the 'magic' plasmids in Bioshock? Yep, check! Liked hacking like I did in Deus Ex? Here you can hack anything with an antenna. Welcome to Deathloop. 4. There is no death. Only learning Yes you can die temporarily, but you are immortal repeating time, and you remember EVERYTHING. it's Monday tomorrow, it's Monday next week, and yes, you guessed it, it's Monday in 40 years until you break the loop. One day, you will learn how to break the loop. 3. OP like there is no tomorrow. Sure there is overkill in other games. Not like Deathloop, no way. Deathloop brings overkill and overpowered terminology to a whole new level. Try throwing a sticky grenade to someone's body then shooting the stick grenade and watch the fireworks. How about tossing a grenade on the floor between two men and then diving out the window. Can you do that in Call of Duty? No, but it would be nice if you could. Now you can and you feel and act as quiet as a silent killer too... see reason #2. 2. I always wanted to be a hitman, in a videogame. I loved the Hitman 1 and 2 games. What I missed was the fusion of silence & guns blazing. Here you can do both. Some days I do completely silent kills, I mean that, not a single bullet sound but perhaps a silent needle gun. The next, I will go out with an explosive-bullet shotgun and blow the whole city up. 1. Nearly unlimited character development. I have not seen a game yet, that comes to this level of character development. Without spoiling here, there are 3 forms of development for Colt and Juliana. 1. Body upgrades, 2. Weapon upgrades, 3. Magic upgrades. THANK YOU Arkane & Bethesda Studioes for bringing us a masterpiece. See you in-game PS5 and PC players, try to kill ****! Did I mention, it's cross-platform on random invasions? Now I did... Sincerely, Exsosus

As Redic_stoop user posted, I'll recite it, I was going to type the exact same sentence, hehe: "I can't even begin to explain how insanely amazing this game is to me." For me this is the best game I've played in 5 years. Hands down, zero argument. Even my girlfriend/future wife likes this so much she got the game for an early Christmas present from me just yesterday and we play Juliana & Colt as friends through missions. My God this game is so good, I cannot express in human words how good it is. Let me explain it in a soul-mode, ready? It is as good as: If you won the lottery and are now a millionaire, made the world become more kind to each other, fixed the climate problem on our planet, took away all poverty on the planet, helped all criminals become happy and not create more problems for us in our world. = That is how good it is. Anyone writing the game is 'OK' is from a different game company and is creating a beautiful lie for you. Hello EA game employees! (Waves at them).

If you liked The Sims, Simcity Series, or any other people simulator-based worlds, then Startopia opens new doors for alien simulation with great comedy and very very entertaining. I gave this a 10 - point rating after recently installing this on my new computer more than 15 years after its release! Runs on Macintosh also if you use help guides online!
