This game is exactly what I wanted. It’s the Red Dead Redemption, open air Zelda, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Witcher 3 Elden Ring love child of my dreams. It’s got a blank protagonist with a very thin story just like Link or the Tarnished. I’m not here for a story. I have a lot of books and movies for my story needs. I’m here to play an amazing, beautiful, intricate and filled to the brim open world adventure game. I hope that everyone who likes (or even loves) the great open world games of the past plays this one too.

This game deserves a 9 at the extreme lowest. A 10 is actually warranted. Crapping on something great does not make you look better. It makes you look small and petty. A score of 8 is crapping on this game as it is by far the best game on Switch 2 thus far as well as the best Nintendo game since Tears of the Kingdom. In the coming years and decades people will look back on the awful trend of professional reviewers giving this game an undeserved low score with puzzlement and contempt.

This is a cute game, but it is lacking in depth. I’ve played through about three seasons, and already the selection of books is very repetitive. The biggest problem is the system where you recommend books to customers. Usually it goes well, but sometimes the bookshop goes off the rails. Once I, for a laugh, recommended “The Lord of the Flies” to a customer who was looking for a heartwarming coming of age story. They thought it was a sweet story about growing up. Uh. Sure. Then you have the customer who asks for an impossible range of qualities in a book. For example one actually asked me for a book with the “less than 200 pages, that's a plus for me. Also, the longer the book, the better!” AI know book request! It’s a fun idea for a game, but it’s very janky.

Maybe if gamers had a micro transaction system of their own Polyphony would get better reviews… I mean after all we are so dedicated to them really VALUING good reviews, just like we are supposed to value good cars. We don’t want to short change them. What plays for the goose, plays for the gander, right?

This wasn’t the game that we wanted. It’s so broken that it’s almost unplayable. Tedious, broken and boring. The terrible translation is funny for two minutes, and then it’s just annoying and insulting. Yu Suzuki really dropped the ball here. Instead of making a satisfactory ending he decided to barely move the plot. And there will never be another game in the series after this. Don’t kid yourself. This thing is over. Make up your own ending and move on.

I’m not sure why Ubisoft thought that this remaster was a good idea. Although it’s remastered in 4K HDR it is no longer a pretty game. And the controls that were acceptable six and a half years ago are completely atrocious. After playing the beautiful Odyssey for 5 months I just couldn’t go back. I tried, but between characters that don’t have eyelids to controls that seem to be designed to annoy I just couldn’t go back. Oh, and so much Animus gameplay. Any Animus is too much in my book, and there’s plenty of it in Assassin’s Creed 3.
