BlacKkKlansman6
Mar 9, 2019
Too long, too dark, too much time spent in rooms with people you'd rather not be in the company of,
A very good story but needed editing down / possibly adding more tension.
Maybe meant for a younger generation. At points I shut off the sound. I've been around people like that & it's really not something I want another dose of.

Ocean's 81
Jul 4, 2018
More akin to "Girls Having Lunch" than an "Oceans" movie, this dull, scriptless, lackluster mess wanders about wasting our time.
This is supposed to be a caper movie; smart dialogue, snappy camera work, always moving forward, keeping you off balance; Entertaining. Why wasn't there a decent script? why such lackluster, passive directing? Why the anemic camera work and editing. The cast tried, and I really wanted it to suceed, but it's like watching Jellyfish race. After an hour I left. I did ask for my money back, trying to recoup my loss of a full hour of summertime wasted.
- Avoid !-

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back3
Mar 11, 2018
Mindless, Cartoonish, one fight after another, copy / paste dialogue. Except for the set dressing, generally disappointing. It has one or two moments, and The actors try, but it's not nearly as good as the original "Jack Reacher ( 2012) What made the "Jack reacher 2012" so good was the dialogue, the tension, the detection the thoughtful approach, the pacing.
That( 2012) was written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and is very worthwhile.
This one is "a swing and a miss", or a "broken bat pop-up"
I do hope McQuarrie is brought back for the next one.

Baby Driver1

Embarrassingly bad.
"'Bullitt Chase Scene' meets 'Dancing Queen'"
No??
- We start with generic chase scene shots, sans connection, randomly stacked together.
This "Getaway Porn" leads to bad " B" level novice film school scripting;
- at which point I was ready to just get up and leave. This movie has the feel of being written & dirrected by someone who has Never seen a decent film.
Did someone bribe dozens of critics or did Guicifer" hack The Database?
Throw out the first hour and a quarter, focus on the last fifteen minutes and just start over
If you enjoyed the "drive-in twist contest scene" from Pulp Fiction then maybe this film is for you else avoid ! In closing, I an embarrassed to say I have seen this film

Magic in the Moonlight10
Aug 17, 2014
Magic In The Moonlight is one of Woody Allens better recent films; quite complex, Worth seeing for the photography alone. Colin Firth and Emma Stone add something incredibly nice to this. There are all sorts of subtleties and textures in this film, so it's Not a standard " Rom-Com" but more like a Whit Stillman ( Metropolitan, Barcelona) type film. As good or better than " Midnight In Paris."

On the Road3
Jul 19, 2014
Some of the cinematography is worthwhile, bits of acting are noteworthy but, in the end, it's a book you can't really make into a film. What would be shocking and extraordinary in the late 50's now looks fairly tame and often sad. there is a lack of rhythm to the editing, too many unconnected ideas, big, sprawling and dull. If they had tried for something smaller, maybe it might have worked.

Godzilla3
May 21, 2014
If, on some eve in the distant future, your mind is full of troubles and you fear you can't sleep, put on the DVD of the recent " Godzilla" a half hour or so before bedtime. Yes, a star for Brian Cranston, who is very good, and a star for the mid section, where they go for human scale and a star for the CGA Slavies, rolling their eyes at their overlords marching orders and dutifully doing their bidding. Watching colorful CGA Monsters destroy colorful CGA Cities and other gratuitous twaddle; - Is so much like watching colorful Paint dry. and if, the thunderous sound had been turned down in the giga gargantuan IMAX 3-D - encrusted Multiplex, you could have heard the guy in front of me, eyes closed, quietly snoring.

Inside Llewyn Davis2
Jan 1, 2014
Admittedly, I felt like walking out of this film it gets so boring. I also did get teary eyed at one of the songs. Maybe this version tested well in Tuscon or whatever but It felt like The Coen Brothers ran out of material for a film. I also think they chickened out" on the music. ( google "dave van ronk" third one down. Finally, the script needed work, developing the characters and adding back story. Cary Mulligan and Oscar Issacs do heroic work, as does the rest of the cast but they can't save this film. This infield pop-up, missed by colliding critics gives them a single on errors.

The Heat1
Jul 5, 2013
A series of tired sight gags, each drawn out to a cring-inducing length. Sloppy camera work, haphazard editing, gave it a while then walked out. The Production Budget: is reportedly 43 million dollars. They should have spend a few thousand dollars on a WRITER ! DVD if your totally smashed, and have never seen a really bad film

Iron Man 32
May 17, 2013
Poorly done, sloppy, indulgent, often boring. Special effects instead of script, plot or dialogue. Too much action, too many sub plots, too many explosions. for $200,000,000 dollars worth of budget, they should have hired $2,000 worth of writing. Hand Iron Man 4 over to totally green, inexperienced, hungry film school graduates next time & you'll get a better result.. DVD if your really bored

If you had a "Rom Com" written by John Cassevetes and Woody Allen with the football part of " Saturday Night Lights" - mixing in the dance Scene from " Saturday Night Fever" but with a few Double Vodkas thrown in; - quickly You might get a glimmer of how brilliant this very small film is. Loved the Dinner scene, the Diner Scene & Bradley Cooper nails it. Go ! The Acting on a scale of 1- 10 is a Fifty.

The Grey4

While the first fifteen minutes of this grim tale are adequate, the film quickly
degenerates into preposterous behavior by the ensemble, resulting in a fairly dull gore-laced film.

War Horse4
Jan 11, 2012
It's a collage of two films that don't mix, Akin to A mason jar of Makers Mark bourbon blended up with twinkies. Why did they make " Warhorse" ? Why did they spend $80,000,000 Dollars ? Who is this movie aimed at? "American Velvet" meets " Deathcamp For Dobbin" ?
- not a good mix for children ; Don't take your kids, - really. "Lassie Come Home " Meets " Saving Private Ryan, the ghastly parts"
- Not a good mix for adults. Don't take your friends who just want a holiday film Why, then, was this film shoved out the door on Christmas day? The sets are nice, the effects are nice, the opening is nice.. the ending is all heartwarming;
- It's only the middle two hours are kind of a mess. Make up your mind, guys, why not just make two films.

The Way10
Oct 13, 2011
This afternoon we went to see "The Way," All four of us found the film to be stunning. The scenery is breathtaking and the personal stories of both the protagonist and of the people he meets and travels with; and the adventures they encounter; - or generate; are wonderfully realized. It is a "road" story of the highest caliber. See it..

Drive9
Sep 22, 2011
The first 5 minutes of "Drive" is Worth the price of admission ( 6 bucks, if your askin' ) stylish photography, tense, terse with several brilliant scenes within; but the " Art House Gore" in lieu of a more solid script mars the effort. Rated "R" ( Nudity, language, unsafe driving practices ) "X" for Violence;- - and never, EVER pose a threat to this young mans Girlfriend.
