The Characters is weird without trying too hard to be weird. For as much careful attention to detail as there is, there’s a general ease to the series. The production value is high, but it never feels overproduced.

The Characters is worth checking out too, because unlike Party Over Here, its comedic voice is immediately distinct. Every episode is devoted to the idiosyncrasies of its host.

A concept with mixed but consistently interesting results.
