Frasier

One of the best things about the second season of Frasier is the way the series has come to mix its high and low humor.

A series that constructs its characters and situations with care and skill from the start rather than relying on seeking to confirm expectations. [16 Sept 1993]

Frasier can be a beautifully written and acted farce. Yet, in its sixth season, the show is more often sliding into repetition.

This is almost exactly the same premise as Fox's hideously unfunny Daddy Dearest. What a difference a script makes. [16 Sept 1993, p.E1]

On merit, Frasier seems more likely to succeed, largely thanks to a strong supporting cast, headed by the man who plays the father, John Mahoney. [16 Sept 1993, p.ND42]

Served up this time as the main course instead of an ensemble hors d'oeurve, Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane has been toned down from his overbearing "Cheers" years. He's slightly less pompously goofy, making him far more acceptable in these larger doses.[16 Sept 1993, p.B6]

This once-steady sitcom may now be stuck in neutral.

The idea that people are giving Frasier a 79 on average is more about the fact that it isn't a low-brow show. Thus, it doesn't appeal to everyone; it's a brilliant, clever show with incredible chemistry among its cast, and the show is a simple concept, but it truly set the stage for some of the finest sitcom episodes ever made.

Another American sitcom I really like is Will and Grace. Both shows are really funny, but I like this show more. Kelsey Grammar, voice of Sideshow Bob in Simpsons and Vladmir in Anastasia is just superb as radio psychiatrist Frasier Crane, a man with his failures but has a heart that makes anyone warm to him. And he is surrounded by some truly talented comedy actors, especially David Hyde Pierce(who starred alongside Tim Curry in the fantastic stage musical Spamolot) as his brother Niles. I loved John Mahoney as the father, and Peri Gilpin as Roz. My favourites are Jane Leeves with her character's silly humour, and Moose(one talented animal) as Eddie, who got the most laughs as Martin Crane's staring dog. The script is intelligent, witty and cleverly-structured, and there is enough style and substance to make it memorable. And the song at the end is quite catchy. Although I am sad it ended in 2004, I am glad it got a decent ending. 10/10 for a gem on American television. Bethany Cox

The scene where Niles goes down at Nervosa had me in tears! Frasier is a top 5 all time fav series TIMELESS

This show besides being a spinoff of Cheers, portrays a son and father living together in a Seattle apartment. It has many comedic and heart-warming moments that all add to the show's special tone. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched every episode on Netflix!

This was a fun show. Very much a product of its time,but that's what makes it charming.
