Craig’s performance on its own is worth the price of admission, and if nothing else Guadagnino really knows how to transport the viewer to a completely different place and time from today. With his films, the cliche has never been more true: The journey is the destination.

I was anxious to see this because I love Guadanigno films generally and also because of the Burroughs thing (positive memories of Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch from years ago) and I wasn’t disappointed. The two leads (plus the incredible cameo from Lesley Manville) were beautiful, nuanced and human. Terrific production design. I loved the three-chapter format (didn’t think it was too long, as some people have) and the ending which sort of merged All of Us Strangers and 2001.

The narrative may dawdle, the anachronistic music contributes to a disorienting disconnect and there may be too much of a suggestion that “love” is one-sided thing, first to last. Guadagnino’s ” romances”seem to lean that way. But Craig’s performance more than compensates for those shortcomings.

**** captures the loneliness and repression experienced by **** men in that time period . The film is a must see for Burroughs fans . Daniel Craig gave a sublime , nuanced Oscar worthy performance.

I found it to be boring. Second half is mildly interesting...like a fever dream. But overall it's like a beautifully-made music video but lacks cinematic sparks or real substance. Feels pretentious and at times too obvious too.

Seeing that it was directed by Luca Guadagnino, I expected a beautiful, meaningful story in the vein of Call Me By Your Name. But it’s long, unbearably slow, and ultimately says nothing. Visually, it’s stunning, and the actors are amazing. But the story itself is one of the most tedious I’ve ever seen.
