The effect is Chaplinesque if Chaplin had the latest in gadgetry, because the entire picture is also shot in 3-D that, for once, puts all 3 of the Ds to imaginative use.

The birth of a sensational villain: A 5.0-star delightful debut of pure joy.100000 (5.0)My goodness, those Minions were just unbelievably cute. On top of that, Gru—who somehow reminded me of "Austin Powers"—was such a human and relatable character. Steve Carell, who voiced Gru, brought him to life so perfectly. I remember watching this in the theater back in 2010 and finding it absolutely sensational and heartwarming. It was such a feel-good experience that left a lasting impression lol. A perfect 5.0 for a film that combined wicked humor with unexpected warmth, creating a rhythmic and joyful cinematic memory.

Despicable, it sure was. By simply using "cute & fluffy" antics does not automatically allow for humor. Steve Carell's vocal talents are shrouded in below-average dialogue from the script.

Gru's gadgets and persona are one thing, but this movie should be retitled "Disposable Me", because everything in this movie is cliché, recycled from other films and/or trash.
