Trank’s had to suffer a lot to get to make his art, and Capone is one of the most bravely singular and uncommon films you’ll see this year.

It’s all overly theatrical, and not at all concerned with being grounded in reality. And there’s something refreshing about seeing a gangster movie filtered through this sort of lens.

That was a good movie, do not understand all that hate level. Did you all expect some sort of a Marvel level action movie? Grow up and stop whining! Thanks Tom!

Men, why is this movie so hated? I think its a grate movie and its probably going for oscars or minimun golden globes. And now here is the interesting thing about the movie, did you like this movie? And the answer for the mayority is no, but did you know that the movie is suposed to dislike you, is not another ganster movie, its a totally new gender. This movie is made specifically to dislike people, and Josh Trank should win an Oscar for Best Director beacuse of all he did in this movie, Capone is kind of an autocritic to himself and is full of simbolysm and Josh Trank should be awarded beacuse of what he did, he take a grate risk with this movie, when some movies are so bad that they end up being good this movie is the oposite, is so good that ends up being bad. If you get bored, disliked, deceptioned or disgusted it means that the movie worked, it made you feel like Josh Trank wanted you to felt with this movie, and let me tell you that is a genious idea. This movie needs to be on 2021 Oscars season, maybe The Academy would understand this movie. Also the soundtrack is awesome, so calm and beautiful. This movie is good and nobody cant say the oposite.

It doesn’t completely work and lacks complexity, but Capone is scene-for-scene more interesting than many slicker films. Hardy’s swing-for-the-fences performance is a must-see.

Handsomely shot and small of scale, Capone ambles along without catching fire. That’s because the movie, at heart, is shaped as a pedestal for Hardy’s prankish mumbly Method showboating.

Dropping its leash on a star who needs one, the film mistakes decrepitude for drama, and the closest it gets to mid-scene narrative suspense is wondering whether Al Capone has just let himself go with a number one or two.

It’s potentially fresh and unique material, but from the first scenes through the tone-deaf conclusion, Capone is a noxious film about a noxious man — a gruesome and grotesque viewing experience that tells us nothing new about Capone while rubbing our noses in one detestable scene after another. By the time we get to a typically overblown scene in which a diaper-wearing Capone wields a gold-plated Tommy Gun while on a shooting spree, we surrender.

Mr. Hardy does have a few sensationally lurid moments, but the stuff of high drama isn’t there. Most of the time his character is a minimally animate object, scowling furtively and growling in a voice that evokes Marlon Brando, Lionel Stander and Stephen Hawking’s synthesizer.

Tom hardy knocks it out of the park in movie. I'm really hoping for a prequel to this movie.

'Capone' disappoints. It's not what I was expecting. I hadn't heard much about it admittedly, but I was anticipating a full blown film about Al Capone - especially with the casting of Tom Hardy. That's not a bad thing in isolation, at all, but coupled with iffy storytelling it ends up being a waste. Hardy (Al) is undoubtedly the best thing about this, yet I still think he had way more in him for this sort of role - if the filmmakers had allowed him to use it, of course. There aren't any standouts behind Hardy, though Linda Cardellini (Mae) and Kyle MacLachlan (Karlock) are OK. There's nothing I massively dislike about this, I just wanted so much more from it. It is, I will say, at least a film that makes you think - I just don't, personally, think it came out as perhaps intended.

Great performance by Tom Hardy and an interesting take on the character of Al Capone.

Reluctantly upped this to 3, for ambition and cinematography only. Deadly dull, aimless and frustrating script, which hamstrung both Hardy and Trank, though I suspect both had met their match in material and character. The verdict is beginning to appear that Trank is no Tarantino (note: I have reservations that Tarantino is no Tarantino) as the shapelessness and leaden pacing of this film demonstrates. The repetitive focus on Hardy's immobile and expressionless face reminded me of the lazy writing/direction that has overtaken The Handmaid's Tale with its once thrilling but now tiresome reliance on Offred's skyward stare (at least it evokes her vengefulness). I'd like to see Hardy pull back from the Gonzo and hold it in reserve for a project with demonstrable substance. I can't imagine he found any in the script he saw when he signed on. There was an interesting idea here that went wildly awry.

I found it very boring and didn't get why such movie was needed. Only Tom Hardy's acting was good, but overall movie was very boring and I guess they tried to show consequences of how it ends for a gangster but I don't think it was good as a movie. Watched half and decided just to skip through rest and didn't seem like I missed anything
