Knockout City

I can’t get enough of Knockout City. Velan Studios put an impressive amount of work into a confluence of themes and mechanics that all work together in harmony for a symphony that resonates with a rubbery thwack. Everything feels polished to a degree that is rather monumental for a day one launch, and their plans to support Knockout City for the foreseeable future will ensure it stays downloaded on my hard drive. Every once in a while, a special game comes along that redefines the rules; that finds a unique concept that nobody knew they wanted, but that everyone ends up loving. Knockout City is one of those special games, a passion project built on originality that will surely go on to be bigger than anybody could have initially imagined.

Approachable, but surprisingly deep, Knockout City is one of 2021’s biggest surprises and a refreshing take on the team-based competitive multiplayer genre.

Knockout City might seem generic at first glance but beneath the plasticky models and Fortnite-esque visuals, there’s a tense game of cat and mouse that’s oddly compelling. Many people will be put off by the visuals, but this is a competitive shooter at its core, and it could be one of the more interesting releases to have surfaced this year.

I have played many online multiplayer games in my time, but Knockout City has made a better first impression than most. With its easy-to-understand mechanics, along with the complex mind games involved in almost any interaction, it is very satisfying for quick play sessions. Despite some technical issues and a lack of single-player content and diverse game modes, what is there at launch is a lot of fun so far. Hopefully Velan Studios has more plans to expand the scope of Knockout City further with new maps and cosmetic options over time.

Velan Studios’ Knockout City is a fun game that anyone can pick up and play. It has everything it needs to be a go-to competitive game that is destined to find its way regularly on an Esports schedule. If the promised content is consistently delivered, then it will certainly stick around for years to come.

Knockout City is a balanced title and a fun game to play: victory or defeat is defined by your skills and not classes, perks or anything that gives players an advantage above others. Even so, with its current game modes, there is little motivation to keep fighting dodgeball style.

A few hours spent in the company of Knockout City were enough to understand how it is a title with great potential and with a concept capable of capturing the attention of users belonging to all age groups due to immediate and fun gameplay.

Such a fun underated game with absolutely loads of potential. How games like fortnite continue to get popularity while this game goes under the radar blows my mind.

I never really knew what to make of this game before; especially as I declined the beta invite; but now that the game has been officially released; I can now say that it's not a complete mess like I was worried about it being, but it's also not something I would buy right now given the server issues and lag I experienced in my time with the game. Though the art style is admittedly pretty neat aesthetically, it looks and plays like a game that came out in the PS2/Gamecube/OG Xbox era. It's not the worst game ever, but I don't plan on playing it more until updates are released to deal with bugs and PVP balance; and I recommend others do the same if they're on the fence.

its an ok game severely lacks content but its also got no interest from the community, lack of a player base will kill this game, it needs more than 3v3. I think EA shouldve based it on atleast 6v6 would of been awesome and youd less likely get steam rolled with randoms. way less likely to run into a team of 6 friends on the enemy team than how it is now with 3 lol. as a person in their 20s who plays alone 75% of the time, i find it difficult to enjoy really small games that are primarily based around teaming up

You have to play with cross play disabled otherwise you will only run into pc hackers that will catch and throw with impossible reaction times. Try playing cross play and then disabling on console to test this out. Cross play with PC needs to be impossible with console player due to all the PC hackers. This game is unplayable in this state and the matchmaking times increase with disabling cross play. Save your $20!
